At the end of 2012 I undertook some research into a potential dance on film project exploring flow theory.
In collaboration with psychologist Dr Kate Hefferon, Neil Baker and Steve Hatton (Electric Egg) and independent dance scientist/educator Elsa Urmston, I wanted to work on something responding to:
- research into flow theory (particularly the work of Mihály Csíkszentmihályi), including work exploring the psychology of optimal experience in dance training and performance
- the short story Fly by Daniel Marcus Clark, a 100 word account of one individual’s ambition to learn how to fly
This research represented a substantial period of reflection, and I wanted to represent some of the ideas we explored in the Archive section of the blog, even though we were ultimately unsuccessful in receiving funding to take the ideas any further. Please read the following 9 blog posts in order to gain an overview or our research.
