- interested in participating in a new project using dance within the primary school history curriculum?
Made By Katie Green are offering an opportunity for a student/recent dance graduate to work with the company during our Paul Hamlyn Foundation supported ‘Explore and Test’ project researching ways of using dance within the primary school history curriculum. We will be looking particularly at the impacts of this approach on pupil’s engagement with the subject and their confidence.
Work placement responsibilities would include:
- Supporting the lead artist in delivery of creative dance workshops responding to a historical stimulus (working with year 4 and 5 children from two primary schools in Surrey)
- Collecting feedback from participants and documenting the work in progress
- Contributing to evaluation of the project and development of recommendations for what will happen next with this work
Ideal candidates will:
- Have experience delivering dance workshop activities for primary school age children
- Be organised, friendly, with excellent communication skills and the capacity to work well as part of a team
- Be based near Woking/Guildford, or willing to travel
- Be available to work on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from September 19th-December 14th 2016 (not 4th/5th or 25th/26th October) and on Tuesdays from January 10th – 28th March 2017 (not 14th February)
- Be able to drive, and have access to their own car (this is not essential)
The successful applicant will undergo a DBS check at each of our two partner schools for the project.
This is a work placement, and as such will be most appropriate for those still in training or who have recently graduated who can use the opportunity to contribute to their professional development in dance. The successful applicant will receive a fee of £1000 to contribute to their time and travel costs.
